YOU CAN RUN A DIAPER DRIVE!

                                                HERE’S HOW!

1 PLAN AHEAD WITH THE DIAPER

     PROJECT

  • Determine timing for the diaper drive, e.g., summer, holiday

  • Determine the start and end date for your drive.

  • Establish a coordinating committee or assign a leader to work with THE DIAPER PROJECT volunteer to plan and manage logistics including drop-off location and times, publicity and strategies to generate interest, awareness and need, sign postings, and strategies to encourage and gather financial contributions during the diaper drive, e.g., information and envelopes for individuals who would like to make a financial donation.

3.  SET A THEME AND

     CREATE A DIAPER DROP

     OFF AREA

  • Creative themes include “Diaper Safari-hunting for diapers” and use jungle decorations; “Diapers Rock and Roll” and use 50’s sock hop decorations; “Disco for diapers” and use disco decorations; “Diaper Roundup” and use western decorations; “Diaper Luau” and use luau decorations; “Winter Diaperland” and use holiday decorations.

  • Use a portable crib/playpen with a big bow, or big packing boxes wrapped in white with bows to collect diapers. It’s helpful to “seed” the boxes with a package or two of diapers.

  • Decorate a company vehicle as the collection area with a “stuff the truck” theme.

2SET A GOAL AND SHARE

     YOUR PROGRESS

  • Determine a goal for the number of diapers to be collected.Aim high but be realistic! You might want to set the goal in number of babies you diaper. For example, “Our goal is to diaper 200 babies for a week!” (That would be about 6x200 = 1200 diapers total.)

  • Consider incentives or a competition between departments or grades at a school.

  • Provide a visual to mark progress in attaining your goal such as a giant thermometer; posting pictures of your collection area; doing a daily count and announcing or emailing progress; updating your social media sites with your progress.

4PROMOTE YOUR DIAPER

     DRIVE

  • Consider a launch event to announce the diaper drive.

  • Hang up signs, send letters/emails, use social media and newspapers.

  • Distribute printed materials available from THE DIAPER PROJECT.

5.  TRANSPORTING

     DONATIONS

  • We encourage you to bring the donations directly to A Place To Turn at 99 Hartford St., Natick during their hours of operation on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 9:30 am to 12:30pm; Wednesday 11:00 am to 12:30 pm and 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

  • If this is not possible, THE DIAPER PROJECT volunteers will arrange to pick up your donation.
